Ester Casas

Verónica is an independent counsel and arbitrator with more than twenty-five years of top-level experience, both as a State Attorney and in private practice, in arbitration, litigation, Public Law and European Union law.

As Agent of the Kingdom of Spain, she represented the Spanish authorities in numerous proceedings before the courts of the European Union. In private practice, she has appeared before Spanish and European courts in complex matters, frequently relying on European Union law, and has also advised clients in proceedings before the European Commission.

She has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution across a wide range of sectors such as energy, hydrocarbons, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, banking, and insurance. Over the course of her career, she has led legal strategy in more than 3.000 cases before the civil and commercial, criminal, and administrative courts, as well as before the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.

Her profile is distinguished by a rare ability to bring together, within a single matter, contentious, regulatory, and public law dimensions, particularly where disputes raise issues of regulatory sovereignty, compliance with European Union law, or the interaction between public and private interests.

After serving as of counsel and partner at several law firms, she now practises as an independent counsel and arbitrator.

Her native language is Spanish, and she is fully proficient in English and French.
